Where to go
Bennett County Senior Citizens Center
203 Main St
Martin, SD 57551
When meals are served
Congregate meals are served at noon, Monday through Friday. There is no service on some holidays.
How to reserve
Call the center ahead so they know to cook for you.
What it costs
We ask for a contribution of $5.00 a meal, and we hope that those who are able will give more, because every dollar above that puts another meal on another table.
Giving is voluntary and confidential, and no one 60 or better is ever turned away based on their ability to pay.
Who can come
If you are wondering whether this is meant for you, it probably is.
- Anyone 60 years of age or better.
- A spouse of any age, even if they are not yet 60.
- There is no income test of any kind.
- There is no application and no paperwork.
Four ways to get a meal
However you need it, it is the same meal and the same welcome.
At the center
A hot noon meal at the Bennett County Senior Citizens Center, with company at the table. Most people say the visiting is the better half of it.
Delivered to your door
The same hot meal brought to the house for anyone who cannot get out. Call the center and ask about home delivery.
Grab and go
Picked up and taken home, for anyone who would rather eat at their own table or has somewhere to be.
Frozen meal packs
Seven frozen meals with bread, milk and juice, ready to heat at home. Useful for weekends, for a stretch of bad weather, or for anyone a long way from town. Ask at the center or call the West River office.
Three ways to keep this table set
Martin is new to 60’s Plus Dining, and a new site runs on the people who show up for it.
Pull up a chair
The meal matters, and so does the company. Come once, and bring someone who has been eating alone.
Buy a neighbor's meal
Every gift goes straight to meals for seniors in Bennett County and across our western counties.
Lend a hand
Help serve, carry a tray, deliver to someone homebound, or just sit and visit. An hour a week is plenty.
What is on the menu
Every meal has meat, a whole grain, vegetables and fruit, and milk. The menu changes every month, and it is posted here before the month begins.
